CENTRAL EAST COAST FWA MEETINGS

The Daytona Writers chapter of the Florida Writers Association meets the first and third Saturdays of each month at the City Island Library, Magnolia Street, Daytona Beach, at 12:15 PM.  We discuss marketing strategies, conduct writing exercises, critique our works.  It is not necessary to be a member of the FWA to attend these meetings.  FWA dues: $55 annually.  The theme of this 1200 member (and growing) organization is "Writers Helping Writers."

The Port Orange Scribes Chapter of the FWA meets at Grace Episcopal Church on Ridgewood Ave, just south of Dunlawton, in Port Orange. on the first and third Wednesdays at 6:30 PM.   Contact:palinfla@aol.com

Port Orange Scribes, Second Edition (POSSE) meets at the same location above, but at 4:30 on the same days. Contact: wcollins58@cfl.rr.com

The City Island Fiction Writers (aka Tough Tuesdays) Group meets every Tuesday at Barnes and Noble on International Speedway Boulevard in Daytona Beach at 6:30.  Each week two writers have their previously submitted work critiqued by the rest of the group.  This is an excellent support group for your fiction writing projects as each participant has a unique area of expertise.  Some are comma experts, others have an excellent sense of "story," still others with language, grammar, general knowledge, history, even vampires!  We have pilots, engineers, doctors, nurses and general business people. This is a valuable learning experience, both from a writing perspective and a critiquing perspective. Inclusion is by invitation. Please ask.

OWL (Ormond Writers League) meets the first, third and fifth Thursdays at 12:30 PM at the Ormond Beach Library.  Writers in all genres are welcome.  Dues are $10 annually.  Each week writers read up to seven pages for critique by other members.  The members  have a wide range of backgrounds and so are very helpful with their suggestions and advice.
